A Mission to Rescue 65 Dogs from a Central Georgia Estate of Neglect and Squalor, Saving 65 Canine Lives SB

We recently visited central Georgia where we helped remove 65 dogs from an overwhelmed pet owner in Hancock County. The Atlanta Humane Society was a great help by providing responders and veterinary expertise during the rescue mission. Hancock Animal Friends also assisted in the operation and are currently taking care of some of the dogs and puppies that were rescued earlier this month.

Numerous animals, which consisted of a few young dogs, were discovered in unhygienic circumstances on the premises and inside the house. A number of them had health problems that necessitated immediate medical attention, such as parasites, overgrown nails, conjunctivitis and mange. Additionally, one of the dogs had a fractured leg. The owner of the pets came to the realization that she was unable to provide appropriate care for them, hence agreed to give up ownership of the animals voluntarily.

“We’re thrilled to have the ability and knowledge to assist pet owners in need and enhance the well-being of animals in various regions of the nation,” stated Kyle Held, who is in charge of investigations at ASPCA. He further added that they appreciate Hancock Animal Friends for recognizing the importance of additional aid required to give proper attention to these canines. They’re grateful to Atlanta Humane Society for their support as well. Certain dogs may require medical attention and therapy to modify their behavior, and they’re excited to cater to all their needs and ensure they’re ready for their next adventure.”

Over 25 dogs that were taken from the premises have been relocated to the Atlanta Humane Society, where they will be given proper care such as medical and behavioral attention before they are made available for adoption. The rest of the dogs are being transported to an emergency shelter where they will undergo necessary medical and behavioral treatments, as well as enrichment activities, to prepare them for future adoption.

Tracy Reis, the Director of Atlanta Humane Society’s Animal Protection Unit, has stated that the organization aims to enhance animal welfare throughout the state and offer assistance to animals in times of need. The team is proud to extend its support to these dogs and provide them with the necessary medical and behavioral care through their Shelter Medicine and Behavior Teams to help them recover and find new homes in Atlanta.
