President Obama’s Health and Wellness and His First Physical Exam as President

President Obama’s Health and Wellness and His First Physical Exam as President

President Obama just finished his first physical while holding office as President. The results have created some controversy because the President isn’t in the best of health. The President’s LDL Cholesterol is 138, which is borderline high according to the American Heart Association. The national average for LDL Cholesterol is 114.8.

The part that bothered me was that the White House Press Secretary made a joke out of it and President Obama’s eating habits. He stated that it was the White House Chef’s fault and that “you guys think he eats carrots and celery and there is more cheeseburgers, fries and pie then you previously knew.”

President Obama also said, “I just have to say no to desert more often.” Wow! I don’t know about you, but if I had a personal chef serving me twenty four hours a day who is willing to make me whatever I want, I would be eating healthy and certainly not cheeseburgers, fries and pie.

I think the White House has sent the wrong message to the public, saying that it is totally acceptable to eat unhealthy foods, especially if you are busy. President Obama could have turned the situation around with the not so positive results by making it into a call for eating and living right and give encouragement for other Americans.

Instead, they made it into a joke. For those of you who don’t know, President Obama is a smoker, but no one knows just how often he smokes. On June 23, 2009 Obama stated in an interview, “as a former smoker I constantly struggle with it.” He explained that he has tried to quit, but “as a former smoker I constantly struggle with it,” and he also stated that he falls off the wagon but isn’t a constant smoker.

It was released that Obama’s doctor who did the physical also said President Obama has to say no to cigarettes. In response to all of this the White House Press Secretary promised that President Obama will show more “Presidential Restraint.” I feel for President Obama. I think being President is a thankless job, where you are constantly criticized, working harder than any other person in the country and under tremendous pressure.

I am not criticizing Obama as a person, just the way it was handled and the lost opportunity for the message that could have been delivered. I also think our President is a sign of the average American and how the majority of Americans are no longer healthy in the way they eat. This is a major contributor to a lot of the health problems we have today in America.

While the country remains transfixed by the catfight between Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and all the rest, America must occasionally be reminded that there is currently a president in the White House, and that it would be best if he stayed alive for the next 316 days. Thankfully, the president’s doctor has declared that the state of Barack Obama’s health is strong.

After seven years of continual stress and irregular sleep, Obama’s wrinkles have deepened and his countenance has grown noticeably grayer since the golden days of his 2008 campaign, seeming to suggest poor health. Not so, says White House physician Dr. Ronny L. Jackson, who released Obama’s long-form physical-checkup results on Wednesday. Obama has a low resting heart rate (56 b.p.m.), low blood pressure (110/68), 20/20 vision, and low cholesterol—a shockingly normal bill of health for a man in charge of leading the free world and protecting the United States from Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un, among other threats.

According to The New York Times, Obama weighs 175 pounds—half a Taft, historically speaking—which is five pounds less than his last physical exam in June, thanks to a combination of exercise and a good diet.

The report does contain one bombshell: Obama occasionally takes Nexium for his mild acid-reflux symptoms, which, if Republican lawmakers had their way, would disqualify him from the presidency. (The founders said nothing about acid reflux in the U.S. constitution.) Other medications used by the president include Vitamin D, taken daily, and the occasional piece of nicotine gum, which, ironically, is not covered by Obamacare.

Trump, whose physician recently declared that he would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency,” has yet to come up with any insults about Barack Obama’s health.

Random Hoosier State Voter
In April 2008, with Indiana’s presidential primary around the corner, then senator Barack Obama chose the most surefire route to the hearts of the Hoosier State’s electorate: a voter-registration drive wherein the winner got to play three on three with Obama himself. At the faceoff, Obama stuffed the stat sheet with at least four buckets, four rebounds, and three assists, though accounts vary. Obama and his teammates—appropriately dubbed Team Hope—thoroughly whooped their opponents, walking away with a 15–5 victory, sealed by Obama’s nonchalant three-pointer from the wing. A portent of his future career, of course.
