When Dolph C. Volker, wildlife photographer, and zoologist, held his dying dog in his arms, he experienced an extraordinary range of emotions: deep sorrow, devastation, and love. Losing his dog irrevocably changed the course of Volkers’s life; so much so that he decided to dedicate his days to animal welfare causes close to his heart.
Since he was a child, animal rights have been his top priority. He would often spend his vacation days and savings volunteering at the Cheetah Experience in South Africa.
After a taxing day in the sun, he nodded off under a tree when Eden, a cheetah, found him. To Dolph’s great surprise (and heightened alarm), she decided that this seemingly harmless human-made for good cuddling material!
When Dolph, woke up, he was surprised to see the mighty, gorgeous creature rest on him so comfortably. That was the start of their lifelong friendship! Eden treats Dolph just like another cheetah, as she shows her affection by nibbling, purring, and snuggling with him!
It is adorable to watch this pair enjoy each other’s cozy company. People often call Dolph “The Cheetah Whisperer”, as he spends much of his time tending to the needs of his cheetah buddies. This is the sweetest thing we’ve seen in ages!
