Justin Bieber has shared a health update with fans amid his recovery from Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.
The unusual nerve condition had left Bieber with facial paralysis when he was first diagnosed but, as you can see, a lot has changed in a year:
In a post to his Instagram Story on Wednesday (15 March), Justin showed fans what his facial mobility is looking like, compared to last June, when one-half of his face was completely paralysed.
“Wait for it…” he wrote in the post, before showing off a full grin and looking from side to side.
This is a huge step for the 29-year-old who, last summer, had no control of one of his eyelids and could only turn one-half of his mouth up into a smile.
Fans will be thrilled to see his recovery is going well, especially since it was just earlier this month that the ‘Peaches’ singer cancelled the remainder of his world tour.
Although Justin still hasn’t publicly commented on the cancellation, his team confirmed the sad news to fans on 1 March, just one day before Bieber’s birthday.
Justin had been scheduled to play Dublin, Manchester, Paris, London, and Krakow, before jetting off for two nights in Australia and eventually getting back to the States for a few summer gigs.
Justin’s team had given no official reason for the cancellation, but the assumption was that it was probably down to Justin’s battle with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which has forced him to cancel gigs in the past.
Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that causes facial nerve weakness or paralysis, a ringing of the ears, and hearing loss.
Only five in 100,000 people develop RHS in the US every year, according to the National Organisation for Rare Diseases, and it mostly affects adults over 60.
The rare illness can also impact the vocal cords, which of course would have caused serious problems for the singer.
After he cancelled his first batch of shows back in June 2022, Justin took to Instagram to reveal how much he was suffering from RHS.
“As you can see, this eye is not blinking,” he told fans in a video.
“I can’t smile on this side of my face… so there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”

He explained: “It is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.
“This is pretty serious, as you can see. I wish this wasn’t the case, but, obviously, my body’s telling me I’ve got to slow down,” he said.
“I hope you guys understand. I’ll be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to a hundred percent so that I can do what I was born to do.”
Now that JB has had that time to recover and take care of himself, it looks like he’s doing a lot better. I’m sure we’ll see him back on the road in no time!

Hailey Bieber looked sad as she made her first solo appearance in Los Angeles after fans claimed she ‘hinted at divorce’ from Justin Bieber.
The supermodel, 27, was not in good spirit as she strolled without her husband in the city on Wednesday, giving fans an impression as she has decided to move on.
Kendall Jenner’s bestie appeared in casual jeans and she was photographed walking along the streets after being at an event. Hailey looked sombre and didn’t seem to crack a smile.
Hailey’s outing comes after claims that her relationship with Justin was in trouble.
“He acts like a needy kid all the time and she’s constantly having to apologize for him and try to get him to act like an adult,” a source told Radar.
The insider also claimed Hailey is over Justin’s “needy kid tendencies” and “immature behavior” after she was supposedly left mortified during an event the couple attended to promote a new drop for Rhode.
“[Their marriage is] based on Justin’s childish needs and it’s doomed,” another source divulged, according to the National Enquirer. They got married very young and didn’t know what they were getting into, and it’s been up and down ever since,” the added.
Hailey recently posted a video where she mouthed some gossip before blocking out the sound and posting the video on TikTok.
Some fans speculated that the gossip could have related to her marriage. “Ms Bieberrr what the drama is??,” one fan commented under her post. Another speculated: “Soo are they divorced or.”
