Abandoned Dog Waits In An Empty House For His Family To Return

There is perhaps nothing worse than humans abandoning their dogs and leaving them to die. It is such a cruel way to tell them that you do not care.

Even worse, the poor pup does not understand what was done to him, and is against all hopes, clinging to the idea that someone will come back for him.

In this story, we will talk about a sad dog who went through a similar situation and how he handled it.

During one of her regular work days at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a local animal rescuer named Donna Lochman received a call about an abandoned dog inside a house.

Apparently, the dog was just left there by his family who had moved and could not bring him with them due to a ‘no dog’ policy in their new home.

It took them a full week to notify the landlord of the place that the dog was there. For seven full days, he had been cooped up there without anyone.

Luckily, for him, someone had left a lot of food, so he could survive… at least until help arrived.

Lochmann hurried to the house to rescue him, and when she was finally there, he was surprised to see her.

Lochmann, chief life saving officer at the shelter, told The DodoWhen I cracked the door open, I saw him huddling on one of the landings.

She tried to put a leash on him, and he was surprisingly okay with that.

She continued by saying: He was a little hesitant to come with me. But after just a little bit of coaxing with Vienna sausages, he walked up the steps and right out the front door.

She took him to her car, and as soon as he got inside, he pushed his little head against the air conditioning vents, which is how he got his name, Freon.

When he was finally in the animal shelter, the staff showered him with affection and he became quite popular. He loved to kiss everyone he met, even the veterinarians.

He had to spend some time in the shelter’s clinic to make sure he would receive treatment and heal up.

He recovered pretty quickly and this meant that he could get signed up on the adoption list. His name was only on there for a short time, as a family showed interest in adopting him.

Lochmann said: He’s got his forever family now. He has a dog sibling, too!

Everyone in the shelter was delighted that he finally found his forever home and that he can finally move on with his life.

I am so glad to see that this beautiful dog can put his trauma behind him and start again, thanks to the wonderful people who gave him a new chance.
