In a recent episode of his show “Table for One” on Sirius XM’s Sound 42, Drake announced that he would be stepping back from music to focus on his health.
“I probably won’t make music for a little bit,” the rapper said. “I need to focus on my health, first and foremost.”
Drake revealed that he has been dealing with stomach problems for years.
“I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach,” he said. “I need to focus on my health, and I need to get [that] right.”
The rapper was vague about how long his break would last.
“Maybe a year or so, maybe a little longer,” he said. He also mentioned that he has other interests he would like to focus on during this time.
This announcement came shortly after the release of his new single, “8AM in Charlotte,” which features his 5-year-old son, Adonis, in the music video. In the video, Adonis is seen holding a piece of art, and he explains its meaning, adding a personal touch to the rapper’s work.

Drake is scheduled to perform concerts in Toronto, his hometown, on Friday and Saturday night. Shows scheduled for after then have been postponed, according to the tour section of his website.
