Mama Pittie Who Was Hiding Her Puppies In A Burrow Learns To Trust Her Rescuers

When Donna, from the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, found out that a blue Pittie who seemed to be nursing puppies was all alone, she knew she had to find her and help.

She packed up some food, got in her car, and made her way to the brave mama dog.

As soon as Donna found the mama, she gave her some food not only to feed her, but also to gain her trust.

After she ate some food, the mama dog went into the bushes where she was hiding her babies.

Donna decided to follow her in, but as soon as the mama dog saw her, she started growling and hiding her pups behind her.

As Donna started talking to her in a calm voice, and hand-feeding her treats, the mama dog came out of the bushes, allowing Donna to leash her.

“She was a little bit nervous, but for a mama dog with us literally being close to her puppies, she was good!” said Donna.

They carefully got the mama dog into the car and went back to get her litter, too.

It was way easier than we anticipated locating the puppies. She had done a really good job nursing them.

After they managed to get all 7 of her puppies from the bushes, they made their way over to the St. Louis shelter.

Foster Home

Being such an adorable little family, they only spent about three or four days at the shelter before finding a foster home.

The mama dog, now called Crowned Candy, settled into her foster home in no time.

“She’s very affectionate with her puppies. Now that they’re getting older, they’re a little more independent. She leads them out of the room like ‘Hey, let’s come check this out’. She absolutely didn’t want to be by herself at all,” said Stacy, their new foster mom

Stacy and Crown Candy became inseparable, enjoying every passing day together.

She’s my pal. I’m going to be taking care of Crown Candy and her puppies for a few more weeks, and then they will be able to be adopted.

Being the cutest little bunch ever, I am sure that they will soon find a warm forever home that will make them feel loved and appreciated, just like they deserve.
