17-lb ‘Bony’ Pit Bull Discovers Snuggles And What A Full Belly Feels Like

Reese was discovered on the ground. No one knew how this tiny pup had lived so long. Her body was so emaciated that her delicate bones were visible, with each of them clearly discernible. How could someone let this happen? How could anyone do this to her? ????

The dog’s desperate howls were discovered by a neighbor, who contacted the local animal control. They submitted a photo of the dog in the back seat of their vehicle to Jersey Pits, hoping they might save her life. Everyone who saw the image cried uncontrollably. This was by far the most severe case of abuse and neglect they’d ever witnessed.

Reese was only 17 pounds when she went missing. This wouldn’t be a simple issue of fattening her up. To properly restore her, they would need to go through medical procedures. Despite going through a terrible experience, the puppy sought comfort from her saviors. She appreciated their help because she realized it was her deliverance.

Even when she was so weak that she was barely able to raise her head, she delighted in thanking her new human friends with kisses. To characterize Reese as a kind dog is an understatement. It’s beyond cruel to see a dog like Reese who clearly has a lot of love to give be starved deliberately.

The medical staff made the appropriate actions to assist Reese to get well again. She required a lot of attention. She was able to stand on her own for a brief period after a week in the hospital. It was certainly something! ❤️

A few weeks later, Reese was taking steps on her own. She was wagging her tail and even “sitting” on command. After a month-long hospital stay, she was discharged to go to her medical foster home. Reese’s foster mother, Ryn, said that she was extremely nervous during the car ride but once she entered her foster home and realized she was safe, “she came to life.” She gathered toys and ran around happily with them. For the first time in his life, Reese was inside a house where he was wanted and appreciated.

And then…in an instant, Reese transformed into a ‘real dog.’ She would leap on the couch and request pettings and playtime. Once she had recovered enough to go for walks, she really bloomed. She discovered there was a whole universe outside her door that awaited to be explored!

Ryn explains in the video that she would have to untie Reese’s collar every morning. It was such a fantastic triumph because it meant Reese was gaining weight and getting healthier!

Reese’s condition has improved, and she is growing heavier. She is still living with Ryn as she recuperates. Soon she will be ready for adoption, and everyone who meets her is confident that she would make a wonderful addition to any family.
